MH434 on flyby

Welcome to the Home Page for the Spitfire Society

Come in and find out about the Society, who we are and what we do, and learn about the Spitfire and the people who designed, built, maintained and flew the most famous British fighter aircraft of World War II (and possibly of all time). This is not just history- there are more Spitfires around flying now than there has been since the early 1950's. Find out why we are so fascinated by this unique aircraft.

New Society Chairman, and AGM announcement

The Headquarters Team has a new leader, in the form of Leonard Dickson. Members are invited to join us for the Annual General Meeting at Bletchley Park on Saturday 26th April at 13.30 to meet the Committee and look forward to a new year. After the meeting the Annual Spitfire Lecture will be given. The lecture this year is entitled "HANGAR ELEVEN OPERATIONS", by Peter Teichman. He operates the only flyable (at this point....) PRXI Spitfire, along with a Kittyhawk, a P51, and (soon to be flown) a Hurribomber. Bring your membership cards or you won't get past the gate without an admission fee.

Incidentally, this site has won an award, apparently.

The organisation of the Spitfire Society is under great strain. Volunteers are needed to help with the many activities of the Society, and to courageously put yourselves forward for office. Your Society Needs YOU! This is your opportunity to get nearer to Spitfires, pilots and crew. If you live in the Southampton area, we particularly need help in the Office dealing with the many enquiries.
